Supporting Institutions

This research is supported by a grant (H Skinner, Principal Investigator) from the Canadian Institutes of Health research and is being carried out under the umbrella of the Canada International Scientific Exchange Program (www.cisepo.ca). Headed by Dr. Arnold Noyek, CISEPO is a Canadian non-governmental organization (NGO) based at Mount Sinai Hospital and the University of Toronto leading collaborative health initiatives in the Middle East. CISEPO has successfully brought Israelis, Jordanians and Palestinians together in academically-based health and scientific programs in education, training, scientific exchange and research.

Also, the current study is part of a larger project called TeenNet (www.TeenNetProject.org), based in the Department of Public Health Sciences, University of Toronto. Headed by Professor Harvey Skinner, TeenNet has worked since 1995 with a network of youth and over 20 collaborating organizations in Canada and internationally. TeenNet uses a participatory action research approach that integrates information technology with community involvement for ‘youth in action’ health promotion projects.
